Upgrading Your Spice Jars

When simple updates make such a difference! I gave my spice jars a much needed makeover. Having a seamless look is so much more appealing, especially since my jars are out in the open. Like a “noob” I forgot to take a before picture of all the spices, but just imagine chaos of all varying spice jar sizes and brands.

I started by hand washing and drying all the jars to prep them for the spices. The jars came with a funnel to help with the transfer, but I found it was much easier to just pour the spices right in without the use of the funnel (Note: I did try the funnel at first but it was so slow and still made a mess). Plastic caps with shaker holes were also provided with the jars, but I opted against using them, as more often than not they just get pulled off. I labeled the spice jars as I transferred them to avoid any mishaps. A few didn’t have a proper label in the package, but they came with some blank labels, so I was able to write on them for the time being. I am planning to create my own printed versions to match the rest using my Cricut, as the few handwritten ones are messing with my OCD. The spices were then organized alphabetically, with all the “seasonings” in the very front, also in alphabetical order, since I tend to use those most often.

Please disregard the dingy wall behind the spices, this kitchen is very old and will be getting a makeover this year… I cannot wait!!!
