As 2024 begins, there is no better time for a “refresh.”
These past few years have been absolute chaos for everyone, myself included. Maintaining a social media account can be a job in and of itself. Whether it be personal or business, keeping up with the socials is obviously no small feat, especially when you already have a full time job and a home to maintain.
However, one of the many things we as a society seem to have learned through these past difficult years is to better adjust our focus to ourselves. Going through the day-to-day motions just does not cut it anymore, nor does maxing ourselves out for another person/company’s benefit. For our physical and mental well-being, we recognize that we must also attend to what makes us happy, not just to what allows us survive. We are obtaining a better understanding of living vs surviving. The things we want can be just as attainable as the things we need. How we prioritize our lives can be what changes the opportunities available to us.
It is time we start listening to those who have been telling us over the ages on how to live better lives, and then lead by example:
“…pursue the things you love doing and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off of you” – Maya Angelou
“The only way to do great work is to love what you do” – Steve Jobs
“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life” – Confuscius
With that being said, you can also love what you do, for the very reason that it brings joy to others. There is no rule that states in order to be happy with your job/activity, you must also love doing the work directly in front of you. If what you love is the joy your work brings to others, not the actual work itself, that is also a beautiful thing.
The only rule that exists to enjoy what you do is there are no rules. You just have to take it one step at a time.
This year I look forward to creating more time for myself to be able to share what projects and activities are going on here at My BFLO Home.
In continuing with my original plan, I will be sharing with you my projects, transformations, design ideas, great shopping finds, and more! In addition, I will occasionally share photos of the many beautiful local homes, buildings, and cool places I come across from in and around Buffalo, NY.
I love my city and all the creative people and design elements within it, so I cannot wait to share it with you.
Here is to hoping for a year of inspiration, creativity, new goals, and more joy.
Thank you for following along!
