Why the puzzle pieces?

What do puzzle pieces and completing goals have to do with each other?
I recently came
across a brief blog post from West Press (a print and marketing firm), which discusses the analogy of achieving your goals to putting a puzzle together, and I could not agree more.
“You won’t know all the steps to your goal until you are in the middle of it. Each step comes up when it needs to and you will complete it as happens. Some of the pieces might need to be moved around but that is life. If the first piece doesn’t fit, you make adjustments and move forward… You may hit some bumps along the way and get a bit frustrated, but if you are organized and take your project one step at a time. In the end, all of the pieces will fit together perfectly and make a beautiful picture”1
With 2024 just beginning, setting a few goals for myself both personally and professionally are in the works. Understanding that achieving any goal takes time and effort, I will be using January to focus on creating a plan for the year ahead. Since I am a lover of lists, I will be able to get so much satisfaction from being able to cross new items off throughout the year. However, I will also be equally anxious due to not being able to cross items off said list immediately, and it will be taunting me all year long.
This list will be calling to me like the Jelly Donuts calling Hollywood in the 1987 Mannequin film (i love the classics), but I accept this challenge.
Just like the puzzle, the most important thing is to start!
